Capturing Hyperrealistic Car Design: An Interview with Instagram Artist Przemek
Classic Car Prints - Rear View Prints

Along with offering remarkable classic car prints, at Rear View Prints, we can’t get enough of the very best in gasoline culture. At the same time, we love well-designed art and trending styles. So when we discovered an Instagrammer artist catering to car enthusiasts and collectors around the world… we just had to reach out.

The Instagram account for our artist Przemek is an exceptional example of hyperrealistic art and design. It is the absolute perfect blend of careful skill and refined detail mixed with elegant and sophisticated engineering. Whether it’s the dramatic presentations of a 1964 Impala or the McLaren MP4-12c, the art is a step beyond what any mere camera can capture.

When our founder Patrick Redmond sat down with Przemek, he knew our audience would be eager to learn more about this talented creator. And the artist’s story, from his first sketch to his total passion for speed, provides an amazing insight into the mind of an artist.

Developing the Spark for Creativity

Patrick Redmond:

Thanks for taking time to talk with us about gasoline culture today. For your Instagram… I love that with each image, I’m getting an incredible classic car. Prints and sketches of car design always draw me in. What inspired you to first start drawing cars?

Przemek:

I was drawing since I can first remember. I started as a kid drawing fire trucks, then drawing in school and college, but mostly cartoon comics. Around when I turned 25 years old, I saw a drawing that looked like a photo. I thought, “damn, maybe I could do something similar with pencils.” I would say this was my first big inspiration to start doing, not just drawing, but a photorealistic piece. And that's where the journey really started.

Patrick Redmond:

I respect that ambition to tackle something new. During your career, what car designer or artist has been your biggest influence?

Przemek:

Always liked the Pininfarina projects like 458 Italia F360 or F50, which are like an art on wheels. Or even a 89 Honda NSX or Jag XJS.

Patrick Redmond:

Solid choices, great vehicles with a ton of energy.

Honing the Skill on Classic Cars

Patrick Redmond:

The vehicles you choose are always top-notch. For each piece, how do you choose the vehicles you draw, and what research do you conduct?

Przemek:

Most of the original photos I'm getting from car owners, and it's especially great when I can get a photoshoot showing the cars from all angles. I'm always trying to find the best shot showing the car’s true spirit. I’m always very happy to be able to draw all kinds of Ferrari or Lamborghini models.

Patrick Redmond:

What’s your drawing set up like? Can you draw any place or do you have a certain spot?

Przemek:

To be honest, I draw only in one place. I have my desk with all the markers and pencils and some shading stuff etc. Plus, there’s my drawing board that I'm holding on my knees when drawing.

Patrick Redmond:

Sounds perfect… surrounded by all the design tools you need, so you can get lost in the art. Love it.

Appreciating the World of Speed

Patrick Redmond:

Changing gears, what’s your all-time favorite car or auto brand?

Przemek:

My favorite would be a Ferrari stable. I'm a big fan of the F430 Scuderia and 599GTO from the newer models. And from classics, I love the 250GT California Spyder.

Patrick Redmond:

Faster, smarter, better… where do you see the car industry in 10 years?

Przemek:

Truthfully, I’m not looking that far ahead, but I’m hoping to hear some sweet engine sounds shortly… woooosh…

Patrick Redmond:

Haha. Perfect answer! That’s what gasoline culture is about.

Ever-racing toward the Championship

Patrick Redmond:

What’s your hand-down #1 favorite part about drawing cars?

Przemek:

In drawing cars, my favorite thing would be the work I put in every detail to make the car as good as it would look on the photo. I’ve done over 500 drawings, but when I’m starting a new piece, I honestly feel like a kid opening a Christmas present. I’ll have even more fun drawing the 501st piece than I had with the first one.

Patrick Redmond:

What’s most important in your mind to being a successful artist on Instagram?

Przemek:

That’s really hard because I never think about it when making a post. I’m just posting my recent work, and I’m always very happy to be answering all the comments and giving some tips to guys that are starting to draw cars for the first time.

Patrick Redmond:

Connecting to the community around gasoline culture is definitely a great reason to be doing all this. Wrapping up, where do you want to next take your art?

Przemek:

Next level would be traveling with my drawing stuff to all the best car collections around the world and doing my work live with car standing in front of me.

Patrick Redmond:

Now that’s something I would really want to be there for! I’m sure the Rear View Prints audience would agree, seeing your skill and talent live would be an awesome experience. Well, I want to thank you once again for sharing your perspective and your art with our audience here and at your Instagram. Can’t wait to do it again!
