6 of the Most Reliable Cars Ever Made

6 of the Most Reliable Cars Ever Made

We all love and adore the beauty of a sports car, no matter how impractical they may be on realistic terms. But let’s face it, not all of us are blessed enough to be getting around in life in Porches or Ferraris.

So usually when we go out and buy a car, one of the key things we’re looking for is reliability. We’re not going to be able to purchase the sexiest and fastest car available, but that’s okay as long as the M.O.T. isn’t going to cost an arm and a leg every year. In honour of the ol’ automobiles that keep on going no matter what urban or even off-road and rural terrain throws at it, we’ve picked out some of the most reliable cars ever made.

Honda Civic

Honda Civic

There’s nothing like a good ol’ Honda Civic. It doesn’t really matter what era you pick one up from, although the purists would argue 92-95 as the golden years. You’ll always find one of these cars on the used forecourt still selling for reasonable prices with 150,000 miles or more on the clock.

The Civic brigade are a loyal bunch too, we should know, we have a few in our office. Probably why this car is first on the list!

Subaru Outback

Subaru Outback

The ultimate family vehicles for practicality, you can fit your kids, your partner, your mother-in-law, your father-in-law, your dog, your cat, and then some in the back of a Subaru Outback.

Toughness, reliability, whatever word you want to use, between 1989 and 1999 this was an automobile that was built to last.

Honda Accord

Honda Accord

Another entry for Honda and another testament to Japanese engineering, the Honda Accord is a ubiquitous car on roads around the globe for a reason.

Once again its the 90s that are often cited as the golden period for this car (was everything better in the 90s?) and you won’t have to look very far to find one. A reputation for requiring very low maintenance makes this a solid entry on the list of most reliable cars ever made.

Crown Victoria

Crown Victoria

Where to start with the iconic Crown Vic? Perhaps as a regular civilian car it’s not much to write home about, but finished in the classic yellow of a taxi fleet, or the blue and white of a police cruiser, you really start to remember what this beast is all about.

Combined with a unique toughness and V8 engine under the hood, this car remains a firm favourite in American culture. Its ongoing popularity means these days you can even find mechanics willing to safely deconstruct decommissioned Crown Victoria police cruisers into regular civilian cars ready for the road.

Toyota Camry

Toyota Camry

Well made, roomy, and well known for being top of the range for endurance. It’s the Honda Accord’s close rival the Toyota Camry.

Interestingly there are a range of Lexus vehicles that share the Camry’s iconic well-made durability, which often means they also get mentioned in lists of the most reliable cars ever made too. The Lexus RX 300/330/350, we’re looking at you guys.

Ford Escort

Ford Escort

Cheap. Reliable. Good runner. A to B type car. The Ford Escort is basically the definition of ‘ol’ reliable’. It’s not a car that will ever excite you, or that you’ll ever find yourself google image searching longingly late at night.

But it’s a staple of some of the most all-around reliable cars ever made. If you need something to get the kids to school or go to work, and you don’t have much money to your name? You can’t go too far wrong with a Ford Escort. Not quite the American dream, but sure is regular American living.

Once again we hope you enjoyed our blog and would love to hear your thoughts and comments below as always.
