4 of the Most Iconic Sports Cars From The Last Decade

The 2010s was a fantastically exciting time for sports cars, with incredible innovations that have pushed the boundaries of automotive to the next level. In this Rear View Prints blog, we pick five of the most iconic cars that were birthed in this era and went on to have a huge impact on car culture as we know it. Strap yourself in for this one, folks.

Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo

Porsche had spent 15 long years in exile from the prestigious competition of Le Mans until this beautiful beast flickered its headlights upon the tarmac. The Hybrid Evo is actually the stripped-down and lighter version of the predecessor, which dominated the french endurance competition for three years onwards. This particular model's achievements included a 41.77sec lap of Spa and smashing the Nordschleife in 5min 19.346sec, courtesy of Timo Berhard.

Tesla Model S

Okay, so you knew we were going to include an electric car of some variety. You probably also knew it would be a Tesla as well. But how did we settle on the Model S? Well, in hindsight, it was around this time when most people were really made into believers when it came to electric cars. The Tesla Model S truly shook things up, not only with its style and looks but with its acceleration capabilities too.

Honda Civic Type-R

For as long as I've been writing about cars, I can't remember how often I've included the Honda Civic on 'best of' lists in so many different capacities. It really is the car that keeps on delivering, generation after generation. The 2010s Type-R has been no different, redefining exactly what a hot hatch road vehicle was capable of. Long live the Honda Civic. Long live Japanese engineering.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT350

Oh boy. The Ford Mustang is back, baby, and it's sure back with a bang. The modernisation of this muscle car classic was one of the biggest car stories of the 2010s, introducing a rear suspension to help usher in a new era of one of the most beloved cars of all time. Unfortunately, as of 2020, the GT350 and GT350R both became discontinued models as Ford focused on the future of the Mustang. But for those brief five or so years, muscle car fans around the globe rejoiced.
